Responsible Breden

PRODUCTION

Breden’s products are designed to last, since the materials and level of craftsmanship follow the goal of a hat withstanding the usage of at least 2-3 kids. Proof of achieving that goal is an online community of more that 23 500 parents who actively buy and sell Breden’s preloved products on a daily basis. Breden’s headwear is also available via The Rewear Company which is a renting platform dealing in both new and used children's items. All Breden's materials are used to the fullest and leftover fabric scraps repurposed. We either produce different items ourselves (scrunchies, tote bags etc) or redistribute to different partners such as Kioko and Of.Wester, one of which produces clothes for children and the other for pets. We also strive to produce products that can be recycled as easily as possible.

MATERIALS

Most materials are of organic origin like GOTS and Oeko-Tex® cotton, merino wool and silk wool. Other non-organic materials (like PFC-free weatherproof fabric and chlorine-resistant UV-fabric) are used in order to achieve the highest functionality and comfort. All materials are sourced straight from different European producers in order to make the journey from producer to client as short as possible. Our partners in 2023 are from Estonia, Finland, Denmark, Austria, The Netherlands, Lithuania and Italy. All Breden’s prints are unique and either created by our own head designer or in cooperation with Lemon Ribbon Studio design agency in London. We always buy exactly as much fabric as needed in order to produce the most optimal amount of items without creating any stock overflow. 95% of products are shipped in reusable recycled paper bags which enables us to produce approx. 500 kilos less waste annually.

COMMUNITY

Breden maintains a deep and meaningful relationship with its loyal clients through highly functional communication channels like Instagram, Facebook and newsletters. We also gather and take into account all the feedback provided by the members of our active fan base. Breden's product portfolio will never be complete, since we constantly improve and develop new designs that are distributed to more that 25 countries. Also, we’ve set ourselves a goal to outsource something from each country where we reach at least 5000 clients. This may include design, production, materials etc. For example we’re buying all our merino wool from Finland because it has our second largest client base.

PROCESSES IN BREDEN

Breden employees work on Apple laptops that are known for their durability and high quality. If possible, we always prefer second-hand devices both at the office and our production facility. IT-devices are used for approx. 3-4 years and then donated to GreenDice in order to achieve sustainable development by 2030. Breden's headquarters in Tallinn are located in a new building in Porto Franco. 60 square meters is an office space big enough for a small team to operate while sharing general spaces with other tenants. Almost all employees commute by public transport, on foot or by using two-wheel vehicles. Breden’s full-time employees cover only the most important tasks and many projects and services are outsourced in order to maintain a constant flow of fresh ideas, know-how and expertise. We are pioneers and trendsetters by nature. Logistics services are provided by DPD and DHL because their goals to provide carbon neutral delivery and reaching zero-emission by 2050 align with our values.
